Crazy Mountain Retreat sits perched at the doorstep of some of the best high country in Montana, on a pristine upslope of the Crazy Mountains. This exceptional 20-acre alpine retreat delivers turn-key mountain lifestyle next to the region's most exclusive private ranch holdings. Framed by a dense, private forest of quaking aspen, Douglas fir and ponderosa pine, the property operates as its own, self-contained wildlife sanctuary. Two free-flowing live springs originate directly within the timber, creating a rich riparian habitat that serves as a magnet for good populations of moose, elk, bear, owl, hawk, and mule deer. An onsite trail system allows for exploration and daily walks just outside your door. Positioned directly on one of the few public accesses into the Crazy Mountains, this mountain estate offers immediate, effortless entry to 1000's of acres of contiguous U.S. National Forest land via the Smith Creek, Goat Creek, and Shields River trailheads, providing a world-class playground for hunting, fishing, hiking, backcountry skiing, and snowmobiling right outside your door. The centerpiece of the retreat is an expansive 4-bed, 3-bath mountain-modern chalet designed to frame the staggering, unobstructed panoramic views of the Crazy Mountains. Featuring a soaring glass prow-face, the residence floods with alpine sunlight, anchored by a newly renovated sunroom perfect for watching big game traverse the meadow. Lock-and-leave ownership is guaranteed by a comprehensive suite of new premium mechanical infrastructure designed to shield the home against the heavy high-altitude elements. Recent upgrades include a seamless metal roof built for maximum snow-shedding, a new high-efficiency commercial-grade boiler system, new skylights, fresh exterior paint and new core appliances. A detached, matching oversized shop/toy garage provides storage for ATVs, snowmobiles, and mountain equipment. An onsite trail system allows for exploration and daily walks just outside your door. Located just 20 miles from the historic community of Wilsall, and under 1.5 hours from the vibrant culture, fine dining, and commercial aviation hub of Bozeman. The Crazy Mountain Retreat offers a rare combination of deep alpine privacy and a turn-key luxury convenience. Note: While there are 12 year round residences up Smith Creek Road, it is a private road that is not maintained through the winter. In larger snowfall years, snowmobile or UTV with tracks may be required.
