Sunsets are magical, especially when the ebbing light illuminates the hues and shapes of clouds and precipitation. Starlit night skies and occasional northern lights offer an impressive encore. Inspiring views of the Bridgers, Belts, and Crazies fill your viewshed from the building site. A short walk to the hilltop gazebo rewards you with views of the Absarokas and Beartooths to the south, Gallatins and Bridgers to the west, and a glimpse of the Castles to the north. The wildlife is abundant. Spring brings a variety of songbirds to the property. Sandhill cranes can be heard this time of year also, sometimes nesting on the property. The descent of the Blue Grouse out of the high country to undergo courtship and mating is a favorite. Coveys of chicks follow, inhabiting the property until late summer when they return to the high country. Soaring eagles and hawks, often at your level, float on the breeze. Deer, moose, bears, bobcats, mountain lions, coyotes, and fox have all been spotted on the property. Binoculars or a spotting scope reveal elk, antelope, and mountain goats on the surrounding landscape. Douglas fir, junipers, and limber/lodgepole pine thrive, creating a healthy forest with fine habitat and good rainfall retention. Chokecherries and gooseberries grow on the property, great for fresh snacking or canning. Two wells exist with one boasting 18 GPM for abundant water. A well-built steel shed and small storage shed provide ample room for all your toys and equipment. Enjoy a game of horseshoes behind the cabin or gather round the campfire for evening enjoyment. Fishing can be had in alpine lakes or in the nearby Shields and Yellowstone Rivers. Big game and bird hunting are available in national forest lands or block management areas nearby.
